Topic: Personal Statement
Briefly describe your career objectives. Be as specific as you can concerning the types of positions and responsibility levels to which you aspire. Include short-term and long-term goals. Describe how you expect the MS program to help you achieve your goals. (Approximately 700 words.)
 
　　该题主要涉及两点内容:
 
　　1. 职业计划（career objectives）
 
　　关于职业目标，题目中又提到两个要求：
 
　　1）具体（specific）：期望得到的职位类型（types of positions）或责任层级（responsibility levels）
 
　　这里为什么要单独提到责任层级呢？因为有的时候职位名称无法明确表示责任层级，例如，助理（assistant）。这时就需要表述的再详细一些，是什么人的助理：前辈员工的助理？经理助理？总经理助理？或者什么工作的助理：咨询助理？销售助理？公关助理？等等。
 
　　2）长短期（short-term and long-term）：短期一般是指毕业后三五年，长期则为十年或以上。这就需要申请者对自己的志愿行业有一个真正的专业了解：在应届毕业生最高可做到什么职位？三五年之内最高可达到什么职位，负责什么水平的工作？十年内又有什么样的升职空间？同时，要体现志愿公司的类型及规模。当然，若是能具体到公司的名称是最好了。这样制定出的职业计划既显得切实可行，又可体现出申请者对志愿行业的了解。

SHORT-TERM GOAL: gain practical experience in 360buy Jingdong Mall
I consider 360buy Jingdong Mall, the largest B2C online retailer in China, to be the best platform to translate theoretical knowledge into practice…. I plan to start with inventory supervision at its Shenyang division ….Experience at such a position will enhance my knowledge of distribution management, inventory management, order processing and stocktaking as well as ERP, WMS, budget control and cost control.  In three years, I hope to see myself serving as a manager responsible for process management and system optimization…. In another five years, I will seek to be transferred as a general manager at the Bejing Headquarter in charge of logistic management and operation in East China…. Years of managerial experience in the logistics company will lead to improvement of competence in both supply chain management and administration, which is a necessary preparation for taking over my father’s business.

Buffalo MS program: essential pathway to my goals
Buffalo MS-SC&OM program fits into my career goals well in that its objective is to develop qualified leaders in supply chain and operations management for the global, dynamic and demanding marketplace. I quite appreciate its emphasis on not only intra-firm management but also inter-firm communication and coordination along the supply chain. This will provide effective solutions to my father’s company which I aspire to develop into a listed logistics group centered on sterilized tableware. My favorite courses in your curriculum are Production and Inventory Planning and Supply Chain Design, Modeling and Optimization. From my father’s experience, I got a pretty clear understanding about the significance of inventory to an enterprise as well as modeling and optimization to a supply chain which make the enterprise more successful and competitive. Research and contests I actively participated in during the undergraduate period involved much practice in modeling. My initial exposure to logistics was not in a classroom like most students but at the dinner table when my father often talked about issues in his sterilized tableware company such as the cost of products broken in transportation or delayed delivery. It was natural that Logistics Management aroused my great interest as I found the classical problems like optimal route and transfer of empty containers were the very ones that worried my father. 　　相对于SUNY Buffalo的题目，Alabama的要简单的多，只有三个单词。在这个题目下，我们要写些什么内容呢？purpose是指什么呢？为什么选择这个学校吗？另一个学校给出了答案：
 
Statement of Purpose
 
Applicants must include a description of their objectives in pursuing the advanced degree. This should be a brief summary of the applicant’s career goals, research interests, and pertinent experience.
 
　　也就是说在这个题目下，我们主要是回答：为什么要进行研究生学习？其中包括：申请者的职业目标，研究兴趣以及相关经历。

University of Tennessee
Topic: What are your career goals – both short term and long term? (Please be as specific as possible.) What experiences have shaped this decision? Finally, in addition to the pursuit of an MBA degree, what activities/experiences will you pursue in order to achieve your career goals?
 
　　相对于Buffalo，Tennessee的题目又具体了一些，不仅涉及到职业目标，还明确提出要求阐述这些目标是如何形成的（相关经历），以及申请者在研究生学习之外还要进行什么样的活动来为实现这些目标做准备？
 
I consider your MBA program with a concentration on Supply Chain Management the significant pathway to my goal. It will bring me access to up-to-date knowledge and information as your university is keeping pace with the supply chain skill-sets necessary today. Meanwhile, I will actively engage myself in research of my interest, such as system simulation and supply chain optimization. I will also seize the opportunities to enrich my practical experience through practice and internships benefiting from your close connection with the industry. It is what I will pursue as well to actively relate with your alumni and increase my social contacts. I am looking forward to working with your experienced professors and resourceful students. Given the chance, I will make the best of it to successfully get the MBA degree and make good preparations for stepping into the career world.

　　比较以上三个学校的题目，我们可以发现每个学校关注的内容基本上是一致的，只是侧重点有所不同。因此，我们可以暂时做一个这样的总结：在topic为personal statement或者statement of purpose而没有其它具体要求的情况下，我们可以而且最好写的内容有：长短期职业目标、目标的形成及现有的准备（相关经历）、学习目标（自己的不足之处以及如何通过进一步学习来弥补）
